This isn't one of our better weeks. J just isn't feeling good and I hate that. You just feel so helpless when there isn't anything you can do. I do think his fever is down but he just doesn't seem to be feeling any better. We did find out that Polymyalsia that he has also affects the tissue in the lungs along with the fiber tissue. Great, we were so glad to hear that one.
Hopefully the antibiotics kick in pretty darn soon. He only has two left.
Other than that not anything exciting here. Tomorrow I get to go in to have an ingrown toe nail cut out. That is always fun. I am hoping that I will still be able to go to deep water exercise on Thurs. Somehow I don't think that is going to happen. Last time they told me I couldn't go in the pool for a couple of days to avoid infection.
I really like the deep water exercise. It is hard but think it will work for me. We also start bocce again. It seems like it has been forever since we played. It has been a couple of months now. Hope we haven't forgotten how to do that. ;-)
Starting to have a few more cooler days. That always helps.
Enjoy

Bye Bye heat
Will not quite yet as far as the triple digits go I guess. However, this is an odd summer so hopefully it will start cooling off anytime now. At least it seems to be cooling off a lot nicer at night which does help.
J and I decided to try deep water exercise. We signed up for a 10 week class and then we should be able to do it on our own in the deeper water at Mt. View. The class won't start until Sept. 17 but it will be here before we know it. We have to go out and buy J a new water belt so he can do the exercises without drowning himself. When I talked to Jane about it, she said that the aqua belt should be the only thing we need to invest in. I already have mine. I guess the lady has been training this since the 1970's so she should have it perfected really well I would think. We are looking forward to trying it out anyway. The exercise certainly can't hurt us.
Then bocce starts again in Sept. Will it has been going all summer but we decided that 7 PM it was to warm to go and play outside. Since I procrastinated so long I will have to now wait until later in the year when we move bocce to 1PM to start my swim lessons. Just couldn't get my get along moving that well this summer. I still do plan on learning how to swim right.
The deep water exercises may just get my shoulders stronger anyway so swimming won't be as hard on me. That sounds good to me. I guess I can find any old excuse along the way and reuse them later right? (Bad girl, BAD GIRL)
Nothing else exciting happen here. Hope all is going well for everyone.

Air Conditioning
This time of year you bless you air conditioner every day. Will the last couple of days have been interesting for us. Luckily it has been cooler than normal so it hasn't been to bad yet.
Fri. we were at the kitchen table working on our crossword puzzles when almost right on 9 AM the electricity went off. Talk about a panic feeling. Called my friend to see if hers was off and of course not. Hers was working fine. Then I called the neighbor two houses down to see if his was off. I figured that was the best way to find out if it was a circuit breaker or bad news. It was bad news although a pretty funny conversation to start with. I had told him who I was and asked if his electricity was on. At first he said yes they had used it minutes before for toast and then "no" surprisingly his was also off.
I called the APS right then and put our address in for no electricity. It came back on at 9:37 AM so the house didn't have time to heat up. Then last night, Sat., we were just about ready to turn the TV on to watch the news and oops all our lights, the fan and air conditioner went off. Didn't even bother calling anyone since I figured some people would already be in bed. Called the APS again and "yes they were starting to get calls in our area and would send a truck out". Will we stayed up for a while since some of the lights had been on and figured maybe a 1/2 hour right? No 10:30 PM came and went and no lights so we decided to open a bedroom window and go to bed.
Wouldn't you know that our bedroom is the warmest room in the house and with no air conditioning and no fan kind of had a bad feeling they wouldn't really send anyone out until morning. I finally tried sleeping at the end of the bed where the window would give the most breeze if there were any. Let me tell you there wasn't a whole lot of wind last night! At 12AM almost on the dot everything came back on. What a relief.
The bad news is J's oxygen concentrator also works on electricity and we only have one big tank for an emergency. It worked out fine for now but think the big portable tank is only good for 6 hours. He feels better knowing he has the oxygen at night but being at sea level his oxygen level doesn't drop that dramatically. He just wouldn't have as restful a sleep.
I decided this was a perfect day to do all my wash. I can't wait to see what time the electricity goes off this time. Three out of three right? Hopefully that won't happen since it is going to break 100º again today. The night should get about 77º so maybe we would get by again. I guess I should say we will get by but there would be two very unhappy campers at our house. ;-)
After the wash I have a jaunt to the grocery store and then maybe go to the gym and do some exercises. I certainly don't want to be walking this time of day. We could always go to the pool if we lose it this afternoon. That wouldn't be bad.
I can't think of anything else exciting happening here in AZ right now. Hope all is well with everyone.

August
Darn, lost what I wrote and have to start over. That's the story of my life sometimes. I think my fingers are faster than my brain.
We were busy last week entertaining a friend from Denver. She was down for a funeral of a friend of ours that passed away the weekend before. She stayed here from a week ago Sun. to this last Tues. It was nice having her here because we have been trying to get her down here ever since her son passed away last Dec. We would have preferred a better time for her visit but I guess we take what we can get. We were looking at some places for her to rent this Fall. I don't know if she ever decided on anything or not. Hopefully she will have some things available when she comes down to look again otherwise.
The funeral was very nice. Joe retired a Captain out of the Marines so they had a full military funeral. He was buried at the National Memorial cemetary here in Phoenix. He had a lot of health problems and had just had a four bypass heart surgery. He also had started dialysis and guess his system just couldn't take all that shock at one time.
We may have an old high school friend I worked at the phone company with visiting in October with her husband. We have stayed in touch all these years so will be nice to see her if she makes it. It will depend on if she has to have some back surgery or not. She'll know more later in Sept. if she will be able to come out. It's been a long time since she visited us in Colorado. Her daughters are grown and married now. We never have made it up to North Dakota to see them although we had planned on it a lot of times.
October is a nice month for company. Also may have someone else stopping over on their way to Tuscon. That will be fun also. These visits will be short visits in comparisson to when our Denver friend was here. She was here 9 days and we found we aren't used to that long a visit. We played lots of cards when she was here. I did make some extra money though! I couldn't believe how lucky I was that visit. J was glad to get his bathroom back!
We started walking again. We only did a mile today but hope to make it longer as we go along. It rained today and was pretty humid outside. We even went early. I couldn't believe I woke up that early. Now J is going to want that all the time since we get our walk in before it gets to warm. My feet did real good today so we will try it again tomorrow. We figure it will be a couple of days and then we will try and go longer. Just have to walk slower since J gets out of breath if we go to fast. We have a 1/4 mile track around the Sun Bowl which is pretty and easy to walk since the lane is gravel and not the hard cement. We just take the golf cart up there and will do our walking. I found walking on the cement for any period of time still hurts my feet so this is best for us. At least we will be out and about.
That's about it for now.
Talk with ya later.

Finally figured out how to get back onto my blog. I hate being Internet illiterate.
This has really been a tough month for us. J hasn't been feeling that spiffy for all of July. It really hurt to see him struggling just to walk or get out of a chair. It seemed that every day he just was getting worse. I know as you age things happen but not overnight. This was something different and took us a long time just to get the help he needed to just function again like he was normally able too. J doesn't complain and when he says he is hurting it is time to get on the phone NOW.
We still don't have the answers to what is causing it but at least they were able to get the pain to a level he could handle. It's nice to have so many friends that would check in just to see how he was doing. Everyone was worried about him.
We are hoping that in Aug. we will have a whole lot more answers on what is going on. Now I have to check with the doctor to see if he was supposed to take the Prednisone for the full two weeks before we went back to see him or had he intended to start taking the level down. He changed the appointment from one to two weeks but he also was going to start taking his Prednisone down at the time of the office visit. I really wish I was a mind reader sometimes.
At least things are more normal around here although I have to admit my shoulders haven't totally relaxed yet. It's been raining and windy so haven't been to go to the pool for exercise and sure could use it. I haven't gone to the rec center and worked out either since I didn't want J to be doing that quite yet until we found out what was causing the muscle pain. I really don't want to go back to where it was before.
Hopefully in the next couple of weeks we will be back to a regular schedule again and can be doing our normal things. Right now I'm even thinking about cleaning house just to stay active. Be still my heart right?
Time to check out and will be a little more active again on the blog hopefully.

Cold
Finally getting over my cold. My hubby has been having neck problems and has been going to the chiropractor for that. Needless to say not a lot is happening in our household right now.
I did go golfing today. It was the first activity I've done in over a week and that includes housekeeping. I wasn't sure I would have the stamina to play 18 holes since our activity level has been so low but I did make it. I have to admit I was pretty tired when I came home.
I don't usually get a cold, sinus yes, but not colds very often. It was a surprise how quick it came on and how crumny I felt. i did find a product called "Cold-EEZE" that really does work. When I first took it I was surprised to see how my nose and coughing slowed down. It took a lot of pressure out of my chest and I don't think I had the cold as long. That was nice.
I still have the edges of one and since it is summer, I am assuming that will linger for longer than necessary.
I'm getting in the mood to get back into exercising now. We decided that tomorrow we would hit the rec center and do some exercise. I wish I could get into a regular program and more consistant on that. It seems like once you fall out of practise it is so hard to get back into it. I'm determined though and I'll get there yet.
You all take it easy.

This is my first attempt at blogging so bare with me. My sister brought my attention to blogging and enjoyed checking out her site so figured I would give it a go and see what happen.
I am a native of Iowa but lived most of my life so far in Colorado. I have been married for 36 years and looking forward to many more years. We moved to Arizona in 2006 and no we haven't adjusted totally to the summer heat. I don't think anyone ever does. However, I did find that it is tolerable and we go where ever and when we want without checking the temperature first. I was personally proud of that.
I enjoy golfing, fishing, and watercolors. I have been checking out my sisters card making and wondering if I can do that but then I feel I haven't mastered the watercoloring yet. I better get that down past a beginning stage before I do anything more. One of these days I will try and post something I have done but right now not sure anyone would really want to see them.
We miss the camping and still hope to buy a different truck and a popup trailer or something easy to pull. For now I just gaze longingly at all the new types out there.
I guess this is a start and will see where this takes me.
It's always fun meeting new people and look forward to that.
That's all for now.
